INTRODUCTION

Nissan has determined that an incorrect size spare tire wheel rim was provided in some 2003 model year Nissan Frontier XE model vehicles equipped
with a V6 engine. If that wheel rim is then used on the front of the vehicle, it will contact the brake caliper, causing a loud rubbing noise and may result
in wear on the caliper and/or wheel rim if driving continues. Continued usage of the spare tire wheel at a front location can also result in loosening of the 
lug nuts and deterioration in braking performance. This may eventually cause the wheel assembly to separate from the vehicle and result in loss of
control and a crash. The spare tire wheel rim fits properly as a replacement for a rear wheel. To prevent this condition from occurring, Nissan is
conducting a Voluntary Safety Recall Campaign to replace the spare tire wheel rim with a new one, and remount the spare tire on it.

IDENTIFICATION NUMBER

Nissan has assigned identification number R2021 to this campaign. This number must appear on all communications and documentation of any nature
dealing with this campaign.

NUMBER OF VEHICLES POTENTIALLY AFFECTED

The number of vehicles potentially affected is approximately 6,500.

DEALER RESPONSIBILITY

It is the retailer's responsibility to check Service Comm for the campaign status on each vehicle falling within the range of this voluntary safety recall
which for any reason enters the service department. This includes vehicles purchased from private parties or presented by transient (tourist) owners and
vehicles in a dealer's inventory. Federal law requires that new vehicles in dealer inventory which are the subject of a safety recall must be corrected prior
to sale. Failure to do so can result in civil penalties by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. While federal law applies only to new
vehicles, Nissan strongly encourages dealers to correct any used vehicles in their inventory before they are retailed.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Spare Wheel Replacement Procedure

1.

Remove the spare tire/wheel assembly as follows:

a.

Pull out the jack rod:

For King Cab, the jack rod is located behind the driver's seat.

For Crew Cab, the jack rod is located behind the rear bench seat.

b.

Pull out the wheel nut ("lug nut") wrench:

For King Cab, the wrench is located in the tool case behind the driver's seat (and below the jump seat).

For the Crew Cab, the wrench is located in the tool case behind the rear bench seat.
