If a trail of corrosion from the ABS sensor hole cannot be seen inside the axle housing as shown in Figure C1:

Make a note on your Repair Order which judgement was made here.

The rear axle bearing does NOT need to be replaced.

Continue with step 2, below.
B.
If a trail of corrosion can be seen inside the axle housing as shown in Figure C2:

Make a note on your Repair Order which judgement was made here.

The rear axle bearing will have to be replaced.

Continue with step 2, below.

Clean out all residual debris from the axle housing with a lint-free shop rag.
3.
If needed, remove all corrosion from the ABS sensor hole using suitable methods. You can use a wire brush, Emery cloth, an 18 mm ball hone,
etc. to do this.
