SERVICE INFORMATION:

Some 1992 Maxima GXE's from the VIN range listed above may exhibit a low pitched squeal noise from the rear drum brakes when applied. Vehicles
produced before or after the VIN range are not affected by this bulletin.

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

After verifying that the brake noise incident is squeal from the "rear" drum brakes, inspect the code stamped on the back of the backing plate as shown. If
the stamped code contains the number 2, perform the following service procedure.

Replace the rear drum backing plate and shoes with the following countermeasure parts. The countermeasure backing plate will contain a only alpha
characters in the stamped code on the back.

Before installing new backing plates, inspect to insure that it is a countermeasure part by inspecting the code number.
