Valve Guide Seal: Service and Repair

Except VE30DE Engine

1.

Remove components necessary for valve cover removal.

2.

Remove timing belt as described under TIMING BELT.

3.

Remove valve cover, then the rocker shaft assembly and valve lifters with valve guide.

4.

Remove valve springs, then retainer using a suitable valve spring compressor.

5.

Remove valve oil seal using suitable tool.

6.

Reverse procedure to install. Apply clean engine oil to seal prior to installation.

VE30DE Engine

1.

Remove intake manifold collector from righthand cylinder head as described under TIMING BELT.

2.

Remove righthand side rocker cover, camshaft sprocket and V.T.C. assembly.

3.

Remove camshafts, camshaft brackets and rocker arms as described under TIMING BELT.

4.

Attach valve spring compressor tool No. KV10116200 and tool attachment No. KV10115900 or equivalents to valve spring.

5.

Set piston of related valve to TDC, to prevent valve from falling, then remove valve spring and valve.

6.

Using valve oil seal removal tool No. J36467 or equivalent, remove oil seal from cylinder head.

7.

Apply engine oil to new valve seal, then using valve seal installation tool No. J39386 or equivalent install oil seal.

8.

Reverse procedure to assemble.
