Reinstall the power/comfort switch and reconnect the Auto A/C temperature sensor and hose, hazard light switch, lighter and lighter lamp. Turn
ignition "ON" and check for proper operation of the radio, A/C, lighter and hazard lamps. Turn ignition "OFF".

9.

Remove protective duct tape from center console.

10.

Reinstall center dash finisher.

11.

Reinstall the shift selector finisher.

12.

Reinstall ash try.

13.

Reset radio presets.

14.

Wash and detail vehicle before returning it to the customer.

Dear Nissan Maxima Owner:

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

REASON FOR RECALL

Nissan has determined that all owners of air-bag equipped Maximas built before September 14, 1992 will be provided with a free replacement sensor for
the Maxima airbag system.

The airbag sensor detects an impact and sends a signal to the airbag located in the center of the steering wheel. The airbag must inflate rapidly to do its
job, which means it must start inflating immediately after an impact. Nissan is aware of a few instances in which the airbag has inflated as a result of a
significant impact to the underbody of the vehicle, such as happens if the vehicle travels off the road over a deep curb. In some of these cases, the airbag
inflation may not have been needed to protect the driver.

Nissan is conducting this voluntary recall to reduce the potential inconvenience and cost associated with the inflation of an airbag when it is not needed
and to reduce the risk of minor injury to the driver from an inflating airbag.

Please note that this recall will reduce the chances of an airbag inflation due to underbody impact; however, a severe underbody impact may still cause
the airbag to inflate, even with the replaced sensor.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO

Contact your Nissan dealer as soon as possible to arrange an appointment to replace the airbag system tunnel sensor. The service will take about 2 hours
but your dealer may require your Maxima for a longer period of time based on his work schedule. If you are unable to wait for this repair and require
alternate transportation, you will be provided with a free loaner car. Please bring this notice with you when you keep your service appointment.
