SERVICE INFORMATION:

Some 1989 & 1990 Maxima and 1990 Stanza vehicles equipped with a sunroof may exhibit a squeak noise from the sunroof when driven over rough
road surfaces with the sunroof fully closed. This noise may be caused by the sunroof weather strip rubbing against the contact surface of the sunroof
opening on the body of the vehicle.

This incident may be reproduced by pushing up on various points of the sunroof lid from the inside of the vehicle with the sunroof fully closed.

This incident can be resolved by applying polyethylene tape to the contact surface of the sunroof opening. The contact surface is the vertical surface
(inside edge) of the sunroof opening. It is the surface where the sunroof lid weather strip makes contact when the sunroof is fully closed, as illustrated.

Clean the surface of the sunroof opening before application of the polyethylene tape. Try not to touch the adhesive side of the polyethylene tape during
application. Apply the tape carefully and avoid kinks or gathering of the tape to assure a flat contact surface. Do not overlap the beginning and the end of
the polyethylene tape.

The upper edge of the polyethylene tape must not be visible from outside the vehicle when the sunroof is fully closed. The lower edge of the
polyethylene tape will need to be trimmed to prevent poor appearance.
