Completely close the sunroof (if the vehicle is equipped with one)

Record the radio station pre-sets

2.

Turn the ignition key to the OFF position.

3.

Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.

4.

Remove the lower instrument panel cover as follows;

A.

Remove two screws from the lower cover (one from each lower corner). See Figure 1.

B.

Gently pull out on the top of the lower cover to release three clips (see Figure 1).

C.

Disconnect the seat switch connector (see Figure 1).

NOTE:

Refer to EL-6 and EL-7 in the Service Manual for proper connector removal procedures.

D.

Place the lower cover in a safe location.

5.

Remove two bolts and remove the knee bolster (see Figure 2).

6.

Release the tilt mechanism lock and adjust the steering wheel to the lowest position.

7.

To allow sufficient clearance for removing the instrument panel bezel (covered in a later step), lower the steering column even further as follows:
