Shift Cable: Adjustments

Control Cable Adjustment 

Move selector lever from the P position to the 1 position. You should be able to feel the detents in each position. If the detents cannot be felt or the
pointer indicating the position is improperly aligned, the control cable needs adjustment.
1. Place selector lever in P position.
2. Loosen control cable lock nut and place manual shaft in P position.

CAUTION:  Turn wheels more than 1/4 rotations and apply the park lock. 

3. Push control cable in the direction of the arrow shown in the illustration by specified force.

Specified force: 4.9 - 9.8 N (0.5 -1.0 kg, 1.1 - 2.2 lb)

4. Tighten control cable lock nut.
5. Move selector lever from P to 1 position again. Make sure that selector lever moves smoothly.

Make sure that the starter operates when the selector lever is placed in the N or P position.

Make sure that the transmission is locked properly when the selector lever is placed in the P position.
