Evaporator Core: Service and Repair

NOTE:  If the Evaporator is to be replaced add 2.4 oz. oil.

1. Disconnect battery ground cable and discharge A/C system.
2. Disconnect refrigerant lines to evaporator and plug lines and open fittings.
3. Remove screws securing right hand lower dash and glove box, then remove panels.  See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Dashboard /

4. Disconnect wiring harness connector to evaporator case.

5. Remove 3 mounting bolts, then remove evaporator case assembly.
6. Remove clips securing evaporator case, then separate case and remove evaporator assembly.
7. Remove insulation from expansion valve sensor tube, loosen clamp and disconnect sensor from evaporator outlet.
8. Disconnect and remove expansion valve/suction throttling valve assembly. Do not disassemble valves. If necessary, replace as an assembly. 

9. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following: 

a. Make sure that expansion valve sensor is properly positioned.
