SERVICE INFORMATION
If the sunroof (S/R) on a 2002 Maxima is reported to not open and/or close properly when S/R slide switch is moved, it may be because:
^
The customer may be improperly setting the S/R slide switch in-between detents/positions;
^
The SIR slide switch may have been affected by cold ambient temperatures.
Refer to the System Diagnosis instructions below to help isolate this incident, if it should occur.
SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS
See if the S/R slide switch is properly positioned at one (1) of the six (6) switch detents/positions:
-
If the SIR slide switch is in-between detents/positions:
^
The customer will need to be informed that the SIR will not operate properly unless the switch is properly set in one of the six (6)
detents/positions (not in-between detents/positions).
^
If you find the SIR slide switch in-between detents/positions; you must move the switch two (2) detents/positions, in any direction, in order to
resume proper SIR operation. You should explain this procedure to the customer in case they set the switch between indents in the future.
-
If the SIR slide switch is properly mispositioned at one (1) of the six (6) switch detents/positions an the SIR still does not open or close properly:
^
DO NOT REPLACE THE SUNROOF MOTOR OR SUNROOF TRAY ASSEMBLY.
^
Use the following information to determine if switch replacement is required:
a.
Remove the switch and place it in a refrigerator and/or freezer at ~32° -42°F.
b.
After one (1) hour of cold soaking, remove the switch and test all switch position resistances, between the Red (R) wire and Green (G) wire.
NOTE:
Switch Resistance values shown in Ohms (+/- 10%).
