Sunroof - Not Closing Properly/Fully/Grinding Noise

This bulletin replaces the original bulletin by combining the part numbers into 1 kit.  Discard the original bulletin.

APPLIED MODEL: 1985-1986 Maxima with sun roof

SERVICE INFORMATION

The sun roof of some 1985-1986 Maxima vehicles may not close properly or fully.  A grinding noise may be heard from the gear/wire drive as the motor
continues to operate in the closed position.  This incident is caused by deflection of the wire guide plate which can allow the gear to slip past the wire
drive.  Frequent "stall-out" or "run-on" of the sun roof motor after the roof is fully closed may contribute to this incident.

To correct this incident, the sun roof motor should be rebuilt as described in the Service Procedure.
