Brake Pad, Replace

1.

Raise and support rear of vehicle and remove wheel.

2.

Disconnect parking brake cable and remove spring retainer, if necessary.

3.

Remove pin bolts, Figs. 13 and 14.

4.

Remove pad springs, pads and pad shim.

5.

Reverse procedure to install. Turn piston clockwise to retract it into cylinder body.

Caliper, Replace

1.

Disconnect parking brake cable and brake hose.

2.

Remove caliper attaching bolts, then the caliper from vehicle.

3.

Reverse procedure to install.

Caliper, Overhaul

1.

Remove outer spring retainer, if equipped.

2.

Remove pin bolts, then separate cylinder body and torque member.

3.

Remove piston by rotating it counterclockwise with suitable pliers.

4.

Remove ring, adjusting nut, ball bearing, wave washer, spacers and cup from piston, as required.

5.

Pry ring A, Figs. 13 and 14, off of cylinder body, then remove spring cover, spring and seat.

6.

Pry ring B off of cylinder body, then remove key plate, push rod and rod.

7.

Remove O-ring from push rod, then pry piston seal out of cylinder body.

8.

Remove return spring, nut, spring washer and lever, then adjusting cam and cam boot.

9.

Remove pins and pin boots.
