PARKING BRAKE CABLE INSTALLATION CAUTION, 1985-1987 MAXIMA

APPLIED MODEL: 1985-1987 Maxima

SERVICE INFORMATION

Use the following procedure to attach the parking brake cables to the cable guides on 1985-1987 Maxima vehicles. This procedure applies to the cable
guides at the rear calipers on 1985-1987 models, and also to the underbody mounts at the front end of the cables on 1985-1986 models.
1.

Pull back the rubber boots to expose the cable. This will allow the cable to be installed without damage to the boot.

2.

Slide the bare cable through the slot in the cable guide.

3.

Install the cable lock plate on the cable cover fitting to secure the cable.

4.

Attach the rubber boot to the fitting.

CAUTION: It is important not to damage the boot because it prevents water from entering the cable. Water in the cable may freeze during the winter or

cause corrosion.
