Remove the boot clamp and pull the boot away from the steering gear.

2.

If the inside of the boot is dry or has only traces of grease, the leak is external.  Check for loose hose clamps as shown in the illustrations. Tighten
any loose hose clamp(s), install a new boot clamp and fill the system with new fluid.

3.

If the inside of the boot is coated with power steering fluid, the leak is internal and the steering gear must be removed for further inspection.
