Coat the new rear housing cover oil seal with ATF and press into the rear cover with a suitable tool (Figure 25). Install the new O-ring on the rear
cover.

Wrap cellophane tape around splines of pinion assembly. Slide the rear cover over the tape-covered splines, being careful not to nick or cut the
seal (Figure 26).

Coat the new pinion oil seal with ATF and press in place with Pinion Seal Installer J28527 (Figure 27). Install the seal with the spring side UP.
16.
Coat the pinion bearing(s) with grease and install in the pinion housing.
17.
Coat pinion teeth and lower oil seal surface with grease. Coat sealing rings and rear cover O-ring with ATF.
