IF YOU CONFIRM:

Intermittent Power Steering Pump noise* ONLY when ALL of the following conditions are met:

^ Power steering fluid level is at the correct level

^ Engine cold

^ Outside ambient temperature is less than 45°F

^ During and following a sharp left turn at or above 15 MPH (such as a U-turn)

^ Foam bubbles appear in the fluid reservoir (indicating that air is in the system) after the noise is heard

ACTION:

ONLY if ALL of the above conditions in IF YOU CONFIRM are met:

1. Replace the steering fluid reservoir with the one listed in the Parts Information section of this bulletin. Reference section ST in the appropriate
Electronic Service Manual (ESM)

2. Bleed the air from the power steering hydraulic system using the procedure from section ST, PERIODIC MAINTENANCE, AIR BLEEDING
HYDRAULIC SYSTEM in the appropriate ESM.

IMPORTANT:

Failure to bleed air from the system will cause noise from the steering pump area to continue until the air is bled from or escapes the system.

*NOTE:

ALWAYS confirm the power steering fluid level as the first step in diagnosis. Reference section ST, PERIODIC MAINTENANCE, POWER
STEERING FLUID in the appropriate ESM.

If the fluid level is low, correct the level and inspect or repair any leaks that may be present using normal Warranty procedures.

Any time that the reservoir cap is removed or the reservoir is exchanged, ensure that contamination does not enter the system. Dirt, debris, etc. that enters
the system can shorten the life of hydraulic components.
