Valve Guide Seal: Service and Repair

1.

Remove rocker cover.

2.

Remove rocker shaft assembly and valve lifters with valve lifter guide.

3.

Remove spark plug, install air hose adapter into spark plug hole and apply 71 psi compressed air to hold valves in place. Ensure piston is at
TDC.

When removing intake side valve oil seal, use Tool or suitable tool.

When removing exhaust side valve oil seal, pull it out with suitable tool.

4.

Remove valve spring, retainer and collets.

5.

Remove valve oil seals.

Before installing valve oil seal, install inner valve spring seat.

When installing intake side valve oil seal, use Tool.

-

When installing exhaust side valve oil seal, set it by hand.

6.

Apply engine oil to new seal and install inner valve spring seat, then drive seal into place.

Ensure seal is properly installed, Fig. 13.
