INTRODUCTION

The fuel feed hose at the fuel pump can be mis-positioned and cause a lack of power or difficulty in starting the engine. A new pre-formed fuel hose is
available to repair this condition. The fuel tank O-ring must also be replaced when performing this repair.

DEALER RESPONSIBILITY

It is the dealer's responsibility to correct any vehicle in inventory prior to sale. The dealer should also check each vehicle falling within the range of this
campaign which for any reason enters the service department.

OWNER NOTIFICATION

Owners of affected vehicles will be notified by mail beginning September 23, 1996. A sample of the owner letter is included.

Service Procedure

1.

Release fuel pressure from the fuel line according to the following procedure:

A.

With CONSULT:

1.

Start the engine.

2.

Perform "FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE" in "WORK SUPPORT" mode to release the fuel pressure.

3.

After the engine stalls, crank the engine two or three times to make sure that fuel pressure is released.

4.

Turn ignition switch "OFF."

B.

Without CONSULT:

1.

Remove the fuel pump fuse.

2.

Start the engine.

3.

After the engine stalls, crank the engine two or three times to make sure that fuel pressure is released.

4. Turn ignition switch "OFF.

Record the radio pre-sets.

3.

Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
