Rotate the propeller shaft so that the maximum run-out mark on the front differential companion flange is in the top position (see Figure 6).

4.

While pulling down on the propeller shaft, tighten and torque the four bolts/nuts equally. Torque the four bolts/nuts to 55-65 N.m (41-48 ft-lb).

NOTE:  Make sure the maximum run-out mark on the front differential companion flange remains on top while tightening all four bolts.

If Alignment Marks are not Visible

1.

Install the propeller shaft rear flange to the transfer case flange. Torque the four nuts to 56 to 65 N.m (41-48 ft-lb).

2.

Install the front propeller shaft flange to the front differential flange and install its four nuts and bolts.

3.

Pull down on the propeller shaft while tightening the bolts to 65 N.m (41-48 ft-lb)

4.

Road test the vehicle and check for vibration in the floor or seat. If no vibration is present front propeller shaft flange alignment is OK.

5.

If vibration is present, remove the four bolts retaining the front propeller shaft flange to the front differential flange and rotate the propeller shaft
90° in relation to the position of the front differential flange.

6.

Pull down on the propeller shaft while tightening the bolts to 65 N.m (41-48 ft-lb).

7.

Road test the vehicle and check for vibration in the floor or seats. Repeat the process of indexing the flanges 90° and road testing as necessary to
determine the alignment position that produces the smoothest operation while driving. Be sure to index the propeller shaft flange in the same
direction each time.
