Piston Ring: Testing and Inspection
Side Clearance

^ The side clearance for the top ring is 0.024 - 0.076 mm (0.0009 - 0.0030 inch) and the 2nd ring clearance is 0.030 - 0.070 mm (0.0012 - 0.0028

inch).

^ The maximum limit of side clearance for the top ring is 0.11 mm (0.0043 inch) and the maximum limit of side clearance for the 2nd ring is 0.1 mm

(0.004 inch).

^ If out of specification, replace piston ring. If clearance exceeds maximum limit with new ring, replace piston.
