SERVICE INFORMATION

If the A/C idler pulley bearing in an Applied Vehicle has a squeal or whine noise at idle, there is a new idler pulley assembly and idler pulley bracket set
available to address this incident.

Use the Service Procedure below to diagnose and repair this incident, if it should occur.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Diagnosis & Replacement

1.

To isolate the noise source use a stethoscope (or similar tool) and listen to the A/C idler pulley bearing.

2.

If the bearing is noisy, replace the idler pulley assembly and idler bracket with the appropriate parts from the Parts Information section of this
bulletin as follows:

A.

Loosen the A/C idler pulley assembly nut (see Figure 1).

B.

To release the tension on the belt, loosen (counter clockwise) the pulley adjusting bolt (see Figure 1).

C.

Remove the pulley assembly nut. Remove the pulley assembly.

D.

Remove the idler pulley bracket. On 2000 models also remove the tube clip.

E.

Install the new idler pulley bracket (and tube clip on 2000 models). See the Parts Information section of this bulletin.

NOTE:

The idler pulley bracket and idler pulley in this bulletin must be replaced as a set.
