1. Confirm that No. 1 piston is set at TDC on its compression stroke.

2. Install tensioner and tensioner spring. If the stud is ever removed, apply locking sealant to threads of stud on cylinder block side before installing.

3. Turn tensioner fully outward with hexagon wrench, and temporarily tighten lock nut.

4. Set the timing belt when engine is cold. Align white lines on the timing belt with punchmarks on the camshaft/crankshaft sprockets and point the

arrow on timing belt toward front belt cover.

NOTE:  The number of timing belt teeth is 133. The number of timing belt teeth between the LH and RH camshaft sprockets is 40 and the number
of teeth between LH camshaft sprocket and crankshaft timing sprocket is 43.
