SERVICE INFORMATION
If an applied 1997-99 Pathfinder has a fuel gauge that does not read full after the tank has been filled, the cause may be the fuel gauge sending unit.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Verify the fuel gauge in the combination meter is working correctly. Refer to "Inspection/Fuel Tank Gauge Unit" in the Meters and Gauges/EL
section of the Service Manual.
2.
If the gauge is operating correctly, replace the fuel gauge sending unit using the procedure outlined below.
WARNING:
Before removing the fuel lines or sending unit, release the pressure in the lines and tank. Refer to the MA section (changing fuel filter) of the
Service Manual.
3.
Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.

Flip the rear seat cushion up and forward, then remove the inspection hole cover (see Figure 1)
5.
Disconnect harness connectors from under the inspection hole cover.
