fluid will drip out of the tube.

5.

Inspect the switch to make sure the 0-ring is still attached to the switch and not in the power steering tube.

Install the new switch (P/N 49761-65E00), with new 0-ring (supplied with switch). Use an open-end, crow foot wrench such as Snap-On P/N
FCOM19 and torque the switch while supporting the other end with a 17 mm wrench to 15.7-23.5 N.m (14-21 in-lbs). Clean any spilled power
steering fluid off of the tubes and other components.

Connect the power steering switch connector.

Check the power steering fluid level. If the level is low, refill using Nissan Genuine Power Steering Fluid.

9.

Start the engine and turn the steering wheel lock to lock several times. Then check the power steering switch for leaks.

10.

Recheck the power steering fluid level. If the level is low, refill using Nissan Genuine Power Steering Fluid.

11.

Reinstall the splash shield.

12.

Warm the engine to normal operating temperature.

13.

Check that the engine idle speed is under 1,000 rpm.

14.

Turn off the engine and disconnect the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) connector (bottom brown connector). See Figure 41.

15.

Start the engine and race it to 3,000 rpm several times.

16.

Check the ignition timing is set at 15 degrees +/- 2 degrees with a timing light, in neutral. Do not use CONSULT to check ignition timing. If not,
adjust it to within that specification. Reconnect the TPS connector and go to step 13.

17.

Use CONSULT to check that the base idle speed is 700 +/- 50 rpm in "Data Monitor" (see Figure 42).

18.

Adjust if necessary, and recheck idle speed to verify that it is set to this specification.
