Mark the hole with a center punch as indicated by the template. A small piece of tape may be used to hold the template in place while marking the
muffler.

6.

Drill the hole with a 3 mm or 1/8" drill bit. On some vehicles a small amount of water may exit the hole after the drilling is completed.

CAUTION:

Do not use an Alternating Current (AC) electric drill.

D. Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Control Unit Repl.

REPAIR D. SRS Control Unit Replacement

1.

Record the customers radio presets on the R.O.

2.

Disconnect both battery terminals.

3.

Remove the screws that secure the center console. Remove the console to access the SRS control unit.

4.

Ensure that at least 10 minutes have elapsed since the battery was disconnected to allow the SRS deployment capacitor to discharge.

WARNING:

Do not work on any SRS connectors or wires until at least 10 minutes have passed since the battery was disconnected as it is still possible for the air
bags to deploy.

Disconnect the passenger and driver side air bag modules (see Figures 17 and 18).

6.

Disconnect the SRS control unit connectors.

7.

Use a T50 Torx(TM) socket such as Snap-On FTRX50 or equivalent, to remove the bolts for the control unit. Never reuse SRS bolts, as they are
coated with a thread locking compound that is a "one time" use only. See Figure 19.

8.

Install the new control unit. Torque the new bolts to 15-25 N.m (11-18 ft-lbs), (see Figure 19).
