CAUTION:  Do not use a screw type core plug puller or similar tool to remove the core plug. This may result in damage to the engine block.

Remove the left rear core plug on the engine block as follows:

A.

Position a flat blade screwdriver against the recessed area of the core plug.

B.

Hammer it with very short strokes until the core plug is loosened and can be grabbed from its edge.

CAUTION:  Do not hammer on the edge of the core plug. Damage to the engine block may occur.

Remove the plug with a pair of pliers.

Thoroughly clean the core plug hole. Remove any burrs, compound, paint or rough spots. If necessary, use emery cloth. Be careful not to score the
machined surface.

Apply a coating of lubricant (supplied in the kit) on the 0-ring and the machined surface of the core plug hole to ease installation and prevent
damage to the 0-ring.

NOTE:  Do not use gasket cement or any other type of lubricant.

8.

Insert the engine heater into the engine block hole with the element pointing in the six o'clock position (down). Insert the engine heater until the
flange is flush with the block (see Figure 5).

9.

Torque the locking screw to 1.6-2.2 N.m (14-19 in-lb).

10.

Install the power cord and route it to the front of the grille. Secure with the plastic tie wraps where necessary to insure the cord does not contact
any hot exhaust pipe, sharp edges or moving parts.
