Cut 3 pieces of foam tape (3M Scotchfoam P/N 021200-03320 Tape # 4504 or equivalent) 5 mm (approximately 1/4 in) wide.  Apply them to the
outer perimeter of the rubber gasket, where the gasket meets the door (see Figure 6).

Install side door mirror assembly to door.

15.

Reassemble in reverse order of disassembly.

 
Recheck:

Test the vehicle as described in "Verify" above to ensure the repair is complete.

Wind Hiss Noise Around A-Pillar

Verify:

There may be a wind hiss noise around the A-pillar, from the base to the top of the windshield.  The incident is usually more pronounced during cross
wind gusts.

Incident can be identified by taping over the entire length of the windshield side molding, along the A-pillar (do not obstruct the test driver's vision).  If
the noise stops use the following procedure to resolve the incident.

Isolate:

The gap between the windshield and the side molding may vary from vehicle to vehicle.  The larger the gap, the more prone the vehicle is to this
incident.  Install foam seal into the windshield side molding using the repair procedure below to resolve the incident.

Remove drip rail weatherstrip from bottom of A-pillar to the top of the roof line (see Figure 7) to uncover windshield side molding.
