Ignition Coil: Testing and Inspection

Be sure ignition is "OFF".

Remove coil wire from coil.

Ignition Coil Primary Circuit

Primary Circuit

Connect ohmmeter as shown. Reading should be approximately: 

1.0 - 1.2 ohms  

Ignition Coil Secondary Circuit

Secondary Circuit

4.

Connect ohmmeter as shown. Reading should be approximately: 

7,300 - 11,000 ohms
