TWISTED SEAT BELT, ALL MODELS

SERVICE INFORMATION

The lap-shoulder belt may become twisted during everyday use. The belt tongue will appear as if it is on the belt backwards, facing the pillar. However,
if the belt otherwise operates properly, such a condition does not require belt replacement. Use the following Service Procedure to remove the twist in
the belt.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.

While holding the tongue, fold the belt as shown below and slide (force) the tongue over the folded portion.

2.

Check operation of retractor mechanism after untwisting belt.

a.

The seat belt should automatically retract when unbuckled. The retract mechanism should operate smoothly.

b.

Sharply pull the shoulder belt forward. The retractor should lock and prevent additional belt movement (1984 and later models only).
