Differential Axle Housing: Service and Repair

1.

Raise and support rear of vehicle.

2.

Disconnect propeller shaft from differential companion flange.

3.

Remove propeller shaft from vehicle.

4.

Disconnect parking brake cable from turnbuckle.

5.

Disconnect brake pipe at body side.

6.

Disconnect shock absorbers at lower mountings.

7.

Lower jack under differential case and remove U-bolts from springs.

8.

Move axle assembly rearward and lower from vehicle. When removing the assembly, tilt the assembly to pass under the springs.

9.

Reverse procedure to install.
