Defroster - Poor Performance

Some 720s may exhibit uneven windshield defrosting/defogging performance due to misaligned defroster ducts.

The defroster duct alignment may be checked by examining the defroster opening in the instrument panel.

If the defroster duct does not align with the instrument panel opening, use the following alignment procedure.

DEFROSTER DUCT ALIGNMENT PROCEDURE

1.

Remove the instrument panel using the procedure outlined in the Body and Frame Section of the Service Manual.

2.

Adjust the defroster nozzles by placing shims (7 mm washers are suitable) between the nozzle attachment tabs and the firewall brackets. (See
figure below). The dash should be temporarily reinstalled to verify correct nozzle alignment.

NOTE:

It may be necessary to install longer fasteners to secure the nozzles.

Reinstall instrument panel.
