APPLIED VEHICLE:

APPLIED DATE:
Vehicles built before August 1997
SERVICE INFORMATION
If a 1993-97 Quest has rear brake noise, a countermeasure rear brake shoe set is available to resolve this incident. The countermeasure will be installed
in production vehicles beginning August 1997.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Verify the noise is coming from the rear brakes
2.
Inspect the rear brake system as described in the 1993 service manual page BR-24 or the 1994/1995, 1996 and 1997 manuals page BR-25.
3.
Lightly cut the rear brake drums on the slowest speed to attain the highest quality finish on the brake drum surface. Ensure that the brake drums are
within specification after material is removed.
4.
Install the countermeasure rear brake shoe set listed in the following table.
CAUTION:
Do not over-adjust the rear brakes. The Quest adjusting mechanism is different than all other Nissan model brake systems. Over-adjusting can
cause the rear brakes to drag and overheat.
5.
Adjust the rear brakes as described in the 1993 service manual page BR-27 or the 1994/1995, 1996 and 1997 manuals page BR-28.
