Using a shop wet/dry vacuum cleaner, remove as much water as possible from the underside of the carpet and insulation.

Spray the wet areas with a household disinfectant to prevent the growth of mildew while drying.

Allow the carpet and insulation to dry by parking the vehicle in a warm, dry area where it is safe to leave the vehicle with the windows
and/or doors open. 

NOTE:  

In some extreme cases, it may require as much as two days for the carpets to dry out completely.  However, if the carpet is not
mildew-damaged, it is cost effective to put the customer in a loaner vehicle for this time, compared to replacing the carpet.
Contact the Claims Call Center and obtain approval before exercising this option.

When dry, reattach the insulation to the engine room wall/floor board.  Make sure the opening for the drain tube is correctly positioned over the
drain hole opening in the engine room wall. If the edges of the insulation protrude over the opening of the engine room wall drain hole, trim the
plastic cover of the insulation, as required, using a utility knife.

When dry, reinstall the carpeting.

Using a utility knife, carefully cut the foam seal at the seam of the upper and lower evaporator case (see Figure 1).

Remove the evaporator core from the case and clean out any debris trapped inside the housing.

If the vehicle is equipped with ATC, continue with step # 9. Otherwise, proceed with step # 10.

 
9.

For vehicles with ATC, replace the evaporator core with the countermeasure unit.

Reassemble the evaporator housing and re-join the foam seal at the points where it was cut.  Use a silicon RTV product such as Permatex  # 66B
(Item # 80636) or equivalent to re-join the foam seal (see Figure 2).
