SERVICE INFORMATION
Cold Weather Starting Tips
If starting the engine of a 1997 Quest is difficult after an overnight cold soak at low temperature and high altitude conditions, the cause may be an
excessively rich fuel mixture due to altitude and climate conditions. Refer to Product Service Bulletin PI95-005 for "Cold Weather Starting Tips", and
print the information for the customer.
If the vehicle remains difficult to start after applying the starting tips, a countermeasure ECM is available which will adjust the fuel mixture enrichment
during cranking.
NOTE:
This countermeasure is for "cranks, no start" only and NOT for "no Crank" incidents.

Service Procedure
CHECK THE IGNITION TIMING AND THE BASE IDLE SPEED USING THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE:
1.
Start engine and warm it up until engine coolant temperature indicator points to the middle of gauge. Ensure engine speed remains below 1,000
rpm.
2.
Open hood and run engine at about 2,000 rpm for approximately 2 minutes under no-load. Rev engine 2 or 3 times under no-load, then run engine
at idle speed for 1 minute.
