SERVICE INFORMATION
If a customer indicates that it is inconvenient to deactivate the Automatic Locking Restraint (ALR) mode of the right-hand-side, second-row-bench seat
belt, use the information in this bulletin to correct this incident.
When activated, the ALR mode provides a "cinching" feature for securing a child restraint. If activated when used by an occupant, this cinching feature
tightens the seat belt causing limited movement and a sense of discomfort. The ALR mode is activated by pulling on the shoulder belt until the belt is
fully extended.
Currently, deactivation of the ALR mode requires that the seat belt be reeled in as far as it will go by the retractor after the belt is unlatched at both the
waist/bench anchor point and the floor anchor point. Unlatching the seat belt from the floor anchor point may be inconvenient for some customers.
A new seat belt is now available that allows ALR mode deactivation by unlatching the seat belt at the waist/bench anchor point only. This eliminates the
need to unlatch the seat belt from the floor anchor point.
