4. Set Tool on spring retainer and install snap ring while compressing return springs.

Set Tool directly over return springs.

5. Install drive plates, driven plates, retaining plate and dish plates.

Take care with order of plates.

6. Install snap ring.

7. Measure clearance between retaining plate and snap ring. If not within allowable limit, select proper retaining plate.

Specified clearance:

Standard: 0.5 - 0.8 mm (0.020 - 0.031 inch) 
Allowable limit: 1.2 mm (0.047 inch) 

Thickness of retaining plates Part No. and thickness:

31537-80x05: 6.6 mm (0.260 inch)
31537-80x06: 6.8 mm (0.268 inch)
31537-80x07: 7.0 mm (0.276 inch)
31537-80x08: 7.2 mm (0.283 inch)
31537-80x09: 7.4 mm (0.291 inch)
31537-80x20: 7.6 mm (0.299 inch)
31537-80x21: 7.8 mm (0.307 inch) 

8. Check operation of reverse clutch.
