TITLE:
1999 QUEST RATTLE NOISE FROM REAR SUSPENSION
APPLIED VEHICLE:
1999 Quest (V41)
SERVICE INFORMATION
If a 1999 Quest has a rattle or click noise coming from the rear of the vehicle (particularly when the vehicle is driven on rough roads or when making a
left hand or right hand turn), use this bulletin to diagnose and repair the incident.
This incident may be caused by the front of either rear leaf spring contacting one of the front mounting plates. If so, the incident is corrected by the
centering of the spring on the bushing, and, if necessary, installing flat washers as spacers to maintain clearance.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
Figure 1
1. Visually inspect the inside of the leaf spring at the front mounting plate for witness marks to verify contact with the front mounting plate (see
Figure 1). The spring should be centered on the bushing with equal clearance between the front mounting plates.
A. If witness marks are not present and the spring is centered, this bulletin does not apply. Utilize Chassis Ears to isolate noise.
B. If witness marks are present or the spring is not centered, proceed to Step 2.
