SERVICE INFORMATION
If a 1996-98 Quest (V40) with rear air conditioning (A/C) experiences poor cooling or intermittent poor A/C performance when the ambient temperature
is greater than 115°F, use this bulletin to repair the vehicle.
This incident may be caused by the A/C compressor shutting off due to the high side system pressure exceeding the setting on the high pressure switch.
The condition, if it occurs, usually happens during stop and go driving or after an extended idle period in high ambient temperatures, usually greater than
115°F.

Service Procedure
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Confirm the poor cooling or intermittent poor A/C performance incident is related to operating in ambient temperatures above 115°F.
A. If this is not related to operating in ambient temperatures above 115°F, this bulletin does not apply. Refer to the A/C section of the Service
Manual for the proper diagnosis and repair procedure.
B. If the incident is related to operating in ambient temperatures above 115°F, then this bulletin applies. Continue to step 2.
2. Discharge the A/C system in accordance with the R-134a refrigerant discharging, evacuating and charging procedures specified in the Service
Manual.
CAUTION: Follow all precautions specified in the Service Manual for working with R-134a refrigerant.
