Service Procedure

Check the current TCM part number (P/N).

IMPORTANT:

Before starting, make sure:

^ ASIST on your Toughbook(R) PC has been freshly synchronized (updated).

^ All CONSULT III (C-III) software updates (if any) have been installed.

NOTE:

C-III automatically gets applicable TCM reprogramming data from ASIST on the Toughbook(R) PC.

CAUTION:

^ Connect a battery charger to the vehicle battery. If the 12V battery voltage drops during reprogramming, the TCM may be damaged.

^ Be sure to turn OFF all vehicle electrical loads. If a vehicle electrical load remains ON, the TCM may be damaged.

^ For TCM reprogramming, your C-III MUST be connected to the VI using the USB cable.

^ Be sure to connect the AC Adapter to your C-III. If C-III battery voltage drops during reprogramming, the process will be interrupted and the TCM

will be damaged.

1. Make sure the C-III Security Card and PCMCIA Card Adapter are installed.

^ A screen print for Warranty documentation can be done from C-III during this process while still cable-connected to the vehicle.

2. Use the USB cable to connect the Vehicle Interface (VI) to the Toughbook(R) PC, and then connect the VI to the vehicle.

CAUTION:

For TCM reprogramming, the Toughbook(R) PC MUST be connected to the VI using the USB cable.

3. Turn the ignition ON with the engine off.

4. Open / start ASIST on the Toughbook(R) PC.
