CAUTION

During the reprogramming process, if CONSULT-I I prints "REPROGRAMMING UNEXPECTEDLY TERMINATED":

The ECM has been permanently damaged and will require replacement.

^

In this case, perform steps A through G.

^

Do not start the engine with the damaged ECM installed.

Press [END] to return to the main menu.

29.

Turn the ignition switch "OFF" and CONSULT-II "OFF".

30.

Make sure the accelerator pedal is fully released (all the way up), then:

a.

Turn ignition switch "ON" and wait at least 2 seconds.

b.

Turn ignition switch "OFF" and wait at least 10 seconds.

c.

Turn ignition switch "ON" and wait at least 2 seconds.

d.

Turn ignition switch "OFF" and wait at least 10 seconds.

NOTE:

Performing the above steps will reset ECM self learned Data.

Section 4: Perform ECM Reprogram Confirmation.

Start the engine.

Perform Idle Air Volume Learning (IAVL).

Refer to the "IdIe Air Volume Learning (IAVL) Procedure".

^

If the engine will not idle, hold the engine RPM at about 2000, then slowly bring it down to an idle. IAVL can now be performed.

Confirm the engine is operating normally.

34.

Make sure the MIL is OFF.

If it is still ON, use CONSULT-II with the Diagnostic (red/white) Card to erase any DTC's that may have stored during the reprogramming
procedure.
