Install the new catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold using the six new bolts.

Tighten the new bolts in numerical order (see Figure 13).

Torque bolts to: 29 - 34 N-m (3.0 - 3.5 kg-m, 22 - 25 ft-lb).

Re-install the two bolts that hold the support brackets to the catalytic converter.

Torque bolts to: 29 - 34 N-m (3.0 - 3.5 kg-m, 22 - 25 ft-lb).

12.

Re-tighten the bolt that holds the support bracket to the A/C compressor bracket.

Torque bolt to: 33 - 46 N-m (3.4 - 4.7 kg-m, 25 - 34 ft-lb).

13.

Install the new front exhaust tube using the new nuts, studs, and gaskets.

NOTE:

Make sure the metal hanger pin is properly inserted into the rubber hanger. Tightening torques:

Nuts that secure the front exhaust tube to the catalytic converter: 59.8 - 69.6 N-m (6.1 - 7.1 kg-m, 45 - 51 ft-lb).

Nuts that secure the front exhaust tube to the rear tail pipe: 51 - 64.7 N-m (5.2 - 6.6 kg-m, 38 - 47 ft-lb).

14.

Re-connect the rear oxygen sensor connector. Make sure the connector is re-attached to the plastic mounting clip.

15.

Re-install the heat shield onto the new catalytic converter using new bolts.

Torque Bolts to: 6.3 - 8.3 N-m (0.64- 0.85 kg-m, 55.6 - 73.8 in-lb).

16.

Re-install the lower engine cover.

Reprogram the Electronic Control Unit (ECU)

SPECIAL ECM REPROGRAMMING PROCEDURE FOR ECM I.D. ENTRY SERVICE PROCEDURE

NOTE:

This "Special Reprogramming Procedure" is different from the typical ECM Reprogramming procedure in that it uses a special "ECM ID
ENTRY CODE". This code is provided later in this procedure.

Before going to the ASIST terminal, write down the vehicle's model year, transmission type, and whether it has ASCD (cruise control) or not.
This will be used to determine which ECM ID CODE will be needed for the ECM reprogramming.
