Power Brake Assist: Testing and Inspection

Testing Brake Booster

1.

With engine off, depress brake pedal several times. There should be no change in pedal stroke.

2.

With brake pedal depressed, start engine. Pedal should go down slightly.

3.

Run engine for two minutes, then turn engine off. Depress brake pedal slowly several times.

4.

Pedal should go down further the first time and rise gradually the second and third time Fig. 1. If this happens the booster is airtight.

5.

With engine running and brake pedal depressed, stop engine.

6.

If after 30 seconds there is no change in pedal movement, the booster is airtight.
