Remove the heater control assembly screws and pull the assembly rearward, far enough to access the underside of the A/C switch.

For Incident # 1: Install a new countermeasure retaining clip.

For Incident # 2: Remove and discard the retaining clip from the
underside of the heater control assembly. Disconnect the harness connector at the A/C switch. Install the new A/C switch and re-attach the
harness. With the A/C switch properly positioned, install a new countermeasure retaining clip.

4.

Re-install the heater control assembly and cluster lid. Check for proper switch operation.
