Check the resistance between pins E and G on the sending unit. The resistance should be approximately 4-6 ohms. Refer to the
illustration.

Lower the float arrn to the bottom position and measure the resistance between E and G on the sending unit. The resistance should be
78-85 ohms.

If the resistance is outside of this range, replace the sending unit, and continue with this testing procedure. When replacing or reinstalling
the fuel sending unit, the O-ring which seals the sending unit to the fuel tank must be replaced (P/N 17342-01A00).

Slowly move the arm through its range of motion to check for any irregularities in resistance. The illustration shows the range of
resistance values. If irregularities are present anywhere in the range, replace the sending unit. When replacing or reinstalling the fuel
sending unit, the O-ring which seals the sending unit to the fuel tank must be replaced (P/N 17342091A00).

Check for proper operation of the meter (even if the sending unit was faulty and was already replaced):

Reconnect the sending unit harness to the known good sending unit and switch the ignition "ON".
