Ignition Coil: Testing and Inspection

Ignition Coil Test

1.

Disconnect the ignition coil terminals.

2.

Using an ohm meter, check the resistance between terminals 1 and 2.

Resistance: Approximately 0.9 ohm

3.

Using an ohm meter, check the resistance between terminals 1 and 3.

Resistance: Approximately 13k ohm

4.

Visually check the coil for leakage an damage.
Replace the coil if it fails the above tests.
