Turn the ignition OFF and wait at least 10 seconds.

Start the engine and let the idle stabilize for about 30 seconds.
4.
Using CONSULT-II, select [WORK SUPPORT] >> [IDLE AIR VOL LEARN].
5.
Touch [START] and wait 20 seconds to 2 minutes: CMPLT should be displayed.
NOTE:
If INCMP is displayed within 2 minutes, or test is not finished within 2 minutes, Idle Air Volume Learning was not carried out successfully.
Make sure you set all of the preconditions exactly as shown in the chart and performed steps 1 through 6 exactly as shown.
6.
Rev up the engine two or three times and allow it to return to idle.
NOTE:

PROGRAMMING UNEXPECTEDLY TERMINATED
(See step 27 above):

The ECM has been permanently damaged and will require replacement.
^
Perform steps A through G below.
CAUTION:
Do not start the engine with the damaged ECM installed.
A.
Turn the ignition "OFF", turn CONSULT-II "OFF", and DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE TERMINAL OF THE VEHICLE BATTERY.
B.
Attach the CONSULT-II print-out to the repair order for future reference.
C.
Replace the damaged ECM.
D.
Reconnect the negative battery cable.
E.
If the vehicle is equipped with NATS:

Some models will require registration of the NATS keys.

See the appropriate TSB(s) or Service Manual (ESM) for NATS information and key registration procedures.
F.
Perform IAVL (Idle Air Volume Learning).
G.
Check the new ECM's current P/N; make sure it is the latest (newest) P/N - see step 21 under procedure.
NOTE:

A new ECM from the parts department may not have the newest program.
^
If needed, return to step 5 in this procedure and reprogram the new ECM with the latest available P/N. Be careful to follow each step
exactly as written.
