2000 SENTRA FRONT SUSPENSION NOISE

APPLIED VEHICLE:
2000 Sentra (B15)

SERVICE INFORMATION

If a 2000 Sentra exhibits a loud squeak or rattle noise in the front suspension when making turns at low speeds (5 - 10 MPH), the cause may be a
mis-aligned/damaged strut bearing. Use the following service procedure to resolve the incident, should it occur.

NOTE:

This is the ONLY approved repair procedure for this incident. A claim to Nissan for the repair of this incident may be denied if the repair is not
performed exactly as outlined in this bulletin.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1.

Confirm the noise by road testing the vehicle.

2.

If the noise is present, remove the noisy strut assembly(s) from the vehicle (refer to pages SU-9 and SU-10 of the 2000 Sentra Service Manual).

3.

Dis-assemble the components necessary to remove the strut bearing (refer to pages SU-9 and SU-10 of the 2000 Sentra Service Manual).

4.

Inspect the strut bearing (see Figure 1).

A.

If damaged, install a new strut bearing (see the Parts Information table shown).

B.

If not damaged and it turns smoothly, re-install the old strut bearing.

NOTE:

When installing the strut bearing, make sure the strut bearing is fully seated in its recess and that it is aligned properly.

5.

Re-assemble the strut assembly and install it in the vehicle (refer to pages SU-9 and SU-10 of the 2000 Sentra Service Manual).

6.

Road test the vehicle to confirm the noise is gone.
