INSTRUMENT VOLTAGE REGULATOR
APPLIED MODEL: 1987 Sentra (B12)
SERVICE INFORMATION
Some 1987 Sentra vehicles may have fuel and temperature gauges that show no indication or indicate high. Use the following diagnostic procedure to
check for proper operation of the instrument voltage regulator.
DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
INSTRUMENT VOLTAGE REGULATOR
1.
Check output voltage of instrument voltage regulator at rear of combination meter as follows:
^
With the ignition key "ON", check voltage between the blue and black wires. Voltage should be 8.0 +/- 0.15 volts D.C. (Make sure that
battery voltage is present between yellow and black wires when checking regulator).
2.
If battery voltage is present at the yellow and black wires, and output voltage is incorrect, replace the instrument voltage regulator (see Parts
Information).
