The Fuel Mixture Heater (EFE) is located between the throttle chamber and the intake manifold.
It is energized through the mixture heater relay via a signal sent by the ECU.
Its purpose is to help atomize fuel during cold engine starting by heating the air/fuel mixture.
Only under the following conditions does the ECU energize the mixture relay which in turn energizes the heater:
^Coolant temperature below 50° C (122° F).
^While starting the engine.
The EFE turns off after several minutes have passed when coolant temperature exceeds 50° C (122° F).
