d. Install spider assembly, referring to alignment mark made during disassembly.
e. Install new snap ring so that rounded surface faces spider assembly.
f.
Pack spider assembly with suitable grease, then install new large boot band.
g. Position boot so that it does not swell when length L,
Fig. 4, meets the following specifications: 3.80 inches.
h. Install new small boot band to boot.

Assemble double offset type joint in reverse order of disassembly as outlined previously.
Adjust boot length L, Fig. 4, to 3.33 inches.

Install driveshaft in reverse order of removal as outlined previously.
Disassembly

On R180A differentials, remove extension tube and differential side shaft assembly, then remove differential side flange.

On all axles,remove side retainers, Fig. 1.
3.
Remove differential case from carrier.
4.
When replacing side bearing, extract bearing outer race from side retainer.
5.
Loosen drive pinion nut, holding companion flange and pull off companion flange using a suitable puller.
6.
Press drive pinion from carrier using a press. Remove drive pinion with rear bearing cone, bearing spacer and adjusting washers.
7.
Remove oil seal.
8.
Remove pinion bearing with pinion bearing spacer and front bearing cone.
9.
Press rear bearing inner race from drive pinion.
